LES RAPIDES SÉLECTIONNENT SIX JOUEURS LORS DU REPÊCHAGE DE LA LHM
C’est jeudi soir dernier qu’avait lieu le repêchage annuel de la Ligue de hockey junior A des Maritimes alors que 120 joueurs au total ont trouvé preneurs auprès des 12 formations du circuit.
Les Rapides ont effectué six choix au total incluant trois défenseurs, deux gardiens de but et un attaquant.
Avec la quatrième sélection lors du premier tour, les Rapides ont sélectionné le défenseur LUC MORAIS, originaire de Dieppe NB. Âgé de 15 ans seulement, Morais a disputé 45 parties la saison dernière avec les Flyers de Moncton au niveau Midget AAA.
Lors du second tour au repêchage (16e choix au total), les Rapides ont choisi l’attaquant DECLAN KENNEDY, natif de Conception Bay South, NL. Kennedy, née en 2007, a joué la dernière saison au niveau U-18 AAA avec les Growlers de Pinnacle.
Au quatrième tour (40e choix au total), Grand-Sault a sélectionné le défenseur WILL REYNOLDS, originaire de Nasonworth, NB. Née en 2007, Reynolds a disputé la dernière campagne avec les Caps de Fredericton chez les Midget AAA.
Avec le 52e choix au total lors du cinquième tour, les Rapides ont choisi le défenseur de 16 ans JACK MARNELL, natif de St.John’s (Terre-Neuve). Marnell a joué la saison dernière avec la formation Champions Hockey Academy au niveau U-16.
Les Rapides ont ensuite arrêté leurs choix sur deux gardiens de but.
Lors du 8e tour (88e au total), Grand-Sault a sélectionné CLAY RYAN, un gardien natif de St.John’s (Terre-Neuve). Né en 2005, Ryan a joué la saison dernière avec les Growlers de Pinnacle (Midget U-18).
Finalement, avec le 90e choix au total lors de la huitième ronde, les Rapides ont choisi le gardien SCOTT LEBLANC, originaire de Moncton NB. Née en 2007, Leblanc a disputé la dernière campagne dans l’uniforme des Saints de Mount Academy au niveau U-16.
CHOIX TERRITORIAL
Lors du repêchage des joueurs au niveau territorial, les Rapides ont sélectionné l’attaquant de 16 ans ZACKARIE MICHAUD, originaire de Grand-Sault NB.
Michaud a joué sa dernière saison dans la North American Prep Hockey League avec la formation Champions Academy au niveau U-16.

THE RAPIDS SELECT SIX PLAYERS IN THE 2023 MHL DRAFT
The Maritime Junior Hockey League Entry Draft was held Thursday night as a total of 120 players were selected among the twelve teams.
The Rapids made a total of six picks, which includes three defensemen, two goaltenders and one forward.
With the fourth overall selection in the draft, the Rapids chose Dieppe NB native LUC MORAIS, a 2007-born defenseman who played in 45 games last season with the Moncton Flyers in Midget AAA.
With the 16th pick overall in the second round, the Rapids selected 2007-born forward DECLAN KENNEDY from Conception Bay South, NL. Kennedy played last season for the U-18 AAA Pinnacle Growlers.
In the fourth round and with the 40th overall pick, Grand Falls selected defenseman WILL REYNOLDS of Nasonworth, NB. Reynolds was born in 2007 and played last season for the Fredericton Caps in U-18 AAA.
With the 52nd overall pick in round no.5, the Rapids selected 2007-born defenseman JACK MARNELL of St.John’s, Newfoundland. Marnell played last season in 16U with Champions Hockey Academy.
Grand Falls then proceeded by adding two goaltenders to their selections.
In the 8th round (88th pick overall), the Rapids selected CLAY RYAN, a 2005-born netminder from St.John’s, Newfoundland who played last season with the Pinnacle Growlers in Midget U-18.
Finally, with the 90th pick of the 8th round, Grand Falls selected Moncton native SCOTT LEBLANC, a 2007-born goaltender who suited up last season with the U-16 Mount Academy Saints.
TERRITORIAL DRAFT
The Rapids selected Grand Falls native ZACKARIE MICHAUD as their territorial pick of the 2023 draft.
The 2007-born forward played last season for the U-16 Champions Academy team of the North American Prep Hockey League.
