EXHIBITION : RAPIDES 2 BLIZZARD 5
EDMUNDSTON – Le Blizzard d’Edmundston a inscrit quatre buts sans réplique en troisième période, l’emportant au compte de 5-2 samedi soir face aux Rapides lors du premier match hors concours de la saison pour la formation de Grand-Sault.
Zackarie Michaud a marqué les deux filets des Rapides qui détenaient une avance de 2-1 après quarante minutes de jeu.
Comme c’est la coutume lors de parties pré-saison, plusieurs nouveaux visages étaient de l’alignement des deux formations pour cette rencontre, dont plusieurs en provenance des rangs midgets.
Les Rapides n’ont alloué que 12 lancers au filet à leurs adversaires après deux périodes de jeu, mais le Blizzard a réussi à diriger 12 tirs au but lors du troisième engagement, filant ainsi vers un deuxième gain en deux soirs.
Ty Owen Bérubé a ouvert le pointage pour Edmundston lors du premier vingt, un but enregistré en supériorité numérique à 15 :59. Les Rapides ont toutefois répliqué à 18:17 sur le premier filet de la partie de Zackarie Michaud qui était bien positionné dans l’enclave. C’est le vétéran Ethan Johnson qui lui a servi la passe, son premier point de la rencontre.
Michaud a marqué de nouveau en début de deuxième période, soit à 56 secondes de jeu seulement, à l’aide d’un tir dévié devant le filet. Ethan Johnson et le nouveau venu Jules Delepoulle se sont chacun mérité des mentions d’aide alors que Grand-Sault prenait les devants 2-1.
Après deux périodes, les Rapides dominaient également au chapitre des tirs au but, 21-12.
La troisième période a été complètement dominée par le Blizzard. Ryan Loveless a nivelé la marque à 2 :55 sur un retour de lancer devant le filet des Rapides. Le but de la victoire est survenu à 10 :25 lorsque Ryan Small complétait une belle passe devant le filet de la part de Aiden McCullough. Nicolas Dubé (à 17:43) et Darien Thomson (18:33) ont complété le pointage pour Edmundston lors du troisième vingt.
Ryan Small et Ty Owen Bérubé ont chacun terminé la rencontre avec des performances de 1b 1p alors que Zackarie Michaud (2b) et Ethan Johnson (2p) ont chacun obtenu deux points à leur fiche du côté des Rapides.
Loic Nadeau est celui qui a débuté le match devant le filet pour Grand-Sault, bloquant 8 des 9 tirs à lui faire face en 30 minutes de travail. Clay Ryan a terminé le match, effectuant 13 arrêts sur 17 lancers.
Will Hodgson et Olivier St-Onge ont partagé le travail devant la cage du Blizzard.
Une foule de 1,973 était sur place au Centre Jean-Daigle pour cette partie. Ryan Small (Edm.) a été choisi la première étoile de la rencontre alors que Zackarie Michaud des Rapides a obtenu la deuxième étoile. Aiden McCullough (Edm.) a été nommé la troisième étoile.
Les Rapides disputeront leur premier match local du calendrier préparatoire dimanche soir (19h00) alors qu’ils accueilleront les Tigres de Campbellton au Centre E.&P. Sénéchal.

EDMUNDSTON – The Edmundston Blizzard scored four unanswered goals in the final period as they defeated the Grand Falls Rapids by a score of 5-2 Saturday night in the Rapids first exhibition contest of the season.
Zackarie Michaud scored both goals for the Rapids who held a 2-1 advantage through two periods of play.
As is the custom with pre-season games, many new faces were in the lineup on both sides, including young prospects from the midget ranks.
The Rapids held their opponents to only 12 shots on goal after two periods but allowed 14 shots in the final frame as the Blizzard stormed back to register the win, their second in two nights.
Ty Owen Berube opened the scoring for Edmundston in the first period, a power play goal scored at 15:59. The Rapids tied the score at 18:17 on Zackarie Michaud’s first of the night after receiving a perfect pass in the slot from veteran Ethan Johnson.
Michaud scored again in the middle frame on a deflection in front of the Blizzard net. Ethan Johnson once again assisted on the goal, as well as newcomer Jules Delepoulle. The tally, scored on the power play, came at only 56 seconds of play.
After two periods, Grand Falls held a 2-1 lead and a 21-12 advantage in shots on goal.
It was a third period dominated by the Blizzard. Ryan Loveless tied the score at 2:55 on a rebound in front of the Rapids’ crease. The winning tally came at 10:25 when Ryan Small completed a pass in front of the net from Aiden McCullough. Nicolas Dubé (at 17:43) and Darien Thomson (18:33) completed the scoring for Edmundston.
Ryan Small and Ty Owen Berube both finished the game with 1g and 1a for the Blizzard while Zackarie Michaud (2g) and Ethan Johnson (2a) both picked up 2 points for the Rapids.
Loic Nadeau started the game in net for Grand Falls stopping 8 of the 9 shots he faced after 30 minutes of play. Clay Ryan finished the game, making 13 saves on 17 shots.
Will Hodgson and Olivier St-Onge shared the duty in the Blizzard net.
A crowd of 1,973 was on hand for the game. Ryan Small received first star honors for Edmundston while Zackarie Michaud of the Rapids received the second star of the game. Aiden McCullough (Edmundston) was named the third star.
The Rapids will play their first home game of the exhibition season Sunday night (7pm) as they host the Campbellton Tigers at the E.&P. Sénéchal Centre.
