TIGERS DEFEAT RAPIDS 7-2

CAMPBELLTON The Campbellton Tigers scored the last four goals of the game on Saturday, cruising to a 7-2 victory over the Rapids in a game played at the Campbellton Memorial Civic Centre.

The loss put an end to a two-game winning streak by the Rapids who now hold a record of 16 wins, 26 regulation time losses and 9 extra time defeats with only one more game remaining to their 2024-2025 season.

Note that this contest was initially scheduled for Friday night but was moved to Saturday afternoon due to bad road conditions.

Owen Underhill scored twice for the Tigers who won for the 27th time this season.

Underhill and Tyler Pazin both scored early for the locals. After 4:36 of play following the first puck drop, Campbellton held a 2-0 lead.
Médéric Allard, with his 9th of the season, scored on the power play for Grand Falls at 13:13 to reduce the margin to one score.

Félix-Antoine Laflamme gave the Tigers a 3-1 lead at 2:54 of the second period before Patrick Baxter would add the Rapids’ second goal while they were playing shorthanded. It was Baxter’s team-leading 2nd shorthanded goal of the season and his 9th overall.

Only 1:03 later however, Simon Duguay added to the Tigers’ lead. Campbellton was ahead 4-2 after two periods of play.

The Tigers scored three unanswered goals in the final frame. Defenseman Alexis Jacques made it 5-2 at 1:17. Jean-Alexandre Tétreault, on a one-timer in front of the net, added the 6thgoal while Owen Underhill scored on a breakaway with only 1 second remaining in the game, bringing the final score to 7-2.

Underhill also earned an assist for a 2g 1a performance. Teammate Thomas Larouche also earned 3 points with 3 assists.

Adam Lecours (GFR) and Adam Rouleau (CAM) were the game’s netminders.

Shots on goal were 41 to 29 in favor of Campbellton.

The Rapids finish their season on Sunday afternoon as they travel to Bouctouche to play the West Kent Steamers. Puck drop is at 4pm.
