RAPIDS EARN A 4-3 VICTORY OVER THE STEAMERS

BOUCTOUCHE Adam Lecours was sensational between the pipes on Friday night, making a total of 41 saves and guiding the Rapids to a 4-3 victory on the road against the West Kent Steamers.

Lecours made numerous key saves as West Kent dominated each period in the shots on goal department.

The winning goal was scored by Nathan Rhodes at 16:11 of the third period, breaking a 3-3 tie for the Rapids who win for a 7th time this season and for a 4th time on opposing ice.

Grand Falls never trailed in the contest, taking the lead on four occasions.

The first goal came at 8:39 of the opening period on a scramble in front of Steamersnetminder Rhyah Stewart. Nicholas Brennan was credited with the tally, his 7th of the season.

West Kent would tie the score at 10:30 on a shot from the point from Isaac Allard.

The Steamers led 16-6 in shots on goal after twenty minutes of play, but the score was tied 1-1.

Caleb MacDonald, with his 10th of the season, gave the Rapids the lead once again at 2:10 of the second period on a power play.

However, West Kent tied the score at 8:46 on Aiden Diamonds first of the season.

Grand Falls took a 3-2 lead at 16:48 when Brayden Campbells shot found its way to the back of the net through traffic.

After two periods of play, the Rapids held a 3-2 lead.

The Steamers tied the score for the third time of the game at the 2-minute mark of the third period. Damon Englehutt tipped in a shot from the point, scoring his 15th of the season.

Then at 16:11, Nathan Rhodes would score the game winner for Grand Falls as he took control of a rebound in front of the Steamers net.

Nicholas Brennan finished the game with 1 goal and 1 assist for the Rapids. Damon Englehutt (1g 1a) and Samuel Massé (2a) led the way for West Kent who started the night with an 18point lead in the EastLink North standings over the Rapids.

The win gives Grand Falls 18 points and remain 3 points ahead of the Fredericton Red Wings who also won on Friday night.

The Rapids will play once more on the road this weekend as they travel to Campbellton on Sunday afternoon to meet the Tigers. Puck drop is at 3pm.
