RAPIDS ARE DEFEATED 6-2 IN EDMUNDSTON

EDMUNDSTON – The Blizzard scored six unanswered goals, including four in the second period, on their way to a 6–2 victory Saturday night at the Jean-Daigle Centre against the Rapids in front of more than 2,600 spectators.

Leading 2–0 early in the second period, the Rapids were unable to contain the Blizzard’s offense which scored its final five goals in a span of less than eight minutes of play.
It marked Edmundston’s fourth win of the season against Grand Falls, allowing them to move ahead of their Northwest rivals in the Eastlink North Division standings.

The game had started well for the Rapids, who played the opening 20 minutes with lots of intensity while delivering some solid body checks, which appeared to catch their opponents by surprise.
Coen Miller opened the scoring for the visitors at 17:41 of the opening frame. Left without watch in front of the net, Miller scored on a pass from Bailey Shortall for his 22nd goal of the season.

Jonah Leard, with his 17th of the campaign, gave the Rapids a 2–0 lead at 2:14 of the second period while his team was on the power play.
The Blizzard responded shortly thereafter with a goal by Darien Thomson at 3:17. Edmundston then scored three unanswered goals in the final five minutes of the period to take a 4–2 lead. Benjamin Damphousse, Charles-Éric Tremblay, and Eliott Guenette were the goal scorers for the home team.

Michael Arsenault and Neka Jean scored 34 seconds apart early in the third period to seal the win for the Blizzard, who recorded their 23rd victory of the season.

The Blizzard outshot the Rapids 32–20. Cedric Massé earned the win between the pipes, while Adam Lecours was his counterpart.
