MATHIEU MARTIN NAMED ASSISTANT COACH FOR THE NB CANADA GAMES TEAM
The Grand Falls Rapids are proud to announce that general manager MATHIEU MARTIN has been selected to be an assistant-coach with the New Brunswick Canada Games boys’ team. The event will be held in the winter of 2027 in Quebec City.
Mathieu has worked with the New Brunswick elite hockey program for the past few years and cherishes the opportunity to represent his province.
“Anytime you get the chance to be selected for such an event, you must take advantage of the invitation”, mentions Martin who is currently the video coach for the University of Moncton Aigles Bleus men’s team.
Teams from Quebec and Ontario will be playing in the same division as New Brunswick at the 2027 Games, but Martin is optimistic about his team’s chances.
“Once you get to the Games and knowing that we are not the favorites to win it all, anything can happen. If we are well prepared, we can certainly surprise some teams”.
Since his arrival as GM with the Rapids, Martin has made many important moves to bolster the lineup and improve the team in many ways. With the approach of the trade deadline coming in January, he hopes to add a few players to improve the team’s chances of reaching the playoffs and make a long run.
“We certainly want to add more elements to the team, but it all depends on what will be available to us come January. We are looking for a top four defenseman and possibly another offensive player”.
Congratulations to Mathieu for his nomination with the Canada Games hockey team!
