BLIZZARD SKATE AWAY WITH A 6-1 VICTORY

GRAND FALLS The Edmundston Blizzard won for a second time in as many games to start the new MHL season, ousting the Rapids by a score of 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the E.&P. Sénéchal Centre.

The Blizzard sent a total of 55 shots on net against 19 for Grand Falls.

Alexis Jacques led the way offensively for the visitors with 2 goals and 2 assists while Nicholas Brennan was the only goal scorer for the Rapids who were defeated for a second time on home ice over the weekend.

Edmundston took a 1-0 lead through twenty minutes of play on a goal from Jérémy Fortin. The Blizzard added two power goals in the middle frame from Philippe Collette and Alexis Jacques to take a three-goal lead.

Nicholas Brennan scored an unassisted goal for the Rapids at 17:04, but Collette added his second of the game 23 seconds later to give the Blizzard a 4-1 lead after two periods of play.

Justin Bouchard-Trottier and Alexis Jacques, with his second tally of the contest, completed the scoring for Edmundston in the third period.

Adam Lecours made 49 saves in net for Grand Falls. Simon Boucher was credited with the win for the Blizzard, stopping 18 of the 19 shots he faced.

Alexis Jacques was named the first star of the game while Philippe Collette (2nd star) and Carl-Anthony Massé (3rd star) also received game honors for Edmundston.

The Rapids will return to action next Saturday as they travel to Fredericton to play the Red Wings at 7pm at the Grant-Harvey Centre.
